Grants

Overview

The Student Support Committee strives to enhance the classroom experience for all children in the District. To help support the teaching and learning process, the Student Support Committee proudly offers MUFSD teachers, therapists, specialists and administrators grants of up to $1000 each.

Projects, Programs and Resources Supported

Grants are awarded for innovative and novel programs, equipment or pilot projects that support the educational experience for students with varied learning, physical, cognitive, social and emotional abilities. Grants may be awarded for an individual classroom or for a project that benefits a range of classrooms and ages. The grants should address students’ diverse needs.

Funds are awarded based on the extent to which the proposed project:

  • Directly and positively impacts students
  • Supports an innovative or novel idea to enhance instruction or enrich the learning environment
  • Enhances the professional’s ability to provide differentiated instruction
  • Relates to curriculum
  • Represents a collaboration among educators

For example, in 2022-23 we funded 14 projects focused on supporting the social-emotional needs of students across the District in grades K-12. Projects included such innovative efforts as:

  • Yoga instruction to improve self-regulation and social skills
  • Dr. Liz Angoff’s The Brain Building Book and author presentation
  • Building a sensory diet for proprioceptive and vestibular input
  • Enhancing language skills for preschoolers and elementary students with disabilities
  • Canine-integrated therapy curriculum
