Sandy Claus Toy Drive Continues!
While most of us in the Murray family have been granted the good fortune of starting to forget about Sandy, many other elementary school children are not so lucky. Murray has adopted a school from the hard-hit area of Long Beach, Long Island - Lido Elementary School. Upwards of 30% of their students are still displaced! We are continuing to collect new unwrapped toys for these less fortunate kids. The drop box will remain at the Murray entrance through Weds, Dec 19. Murray students can learn a valuable lesson about the holiday spirit by giving to others. Thanks for the incredible generosity of those who have already donated.

Need A Last Minute Holiday Gift? Murray Spirit Wear Is Your Answer!
We have a limited quantity of girl's baseball shirts, boy's wicking t-shirts, boy's wicking sweatshirts and lunch sacks available and ready to be wrapped! Please contact Jill Godin (jillradding@aol.com) or Jessica Ettinger (Jessica.ettinger@gmail.com) to inquire about sizes.

Silent Auction Items Still Needed!
Murray’s Winter Gala is Fri, Feb 8 at Whitby Castle. We have already received a few great auction items such as a trip to Disney, Yankee vs. Red Sox tickets and spots at Badger Day Camp… but we need your generous contributions to help make this event a success! Please donate hard-to-get or luxury items, such as week/weekend getaways, tickets for Broadway shows, concert and major sporting events and unique or luxury items or apparel. To donate, please contact one of the Gala co-chairs by Dec 20: Amy Hagar, achagar@verizon.net; Emily Ingles,  emilyingles@verizon.net; or Bonnie Kraner, bonnie.kraner@gmail.com.

Green Tip Of The Week
Not only is idling bad for the environment as we learned in last week's Green Tip, idling has an especially negative impact on the health of our children. Children breathe 50% more air than adults and children's breathing zones are lower to the ground, where exhaust tends to accumulate. Auto exhaust pollutants can lodge deeply into the lungs and can cause lung damage and cancer, and can aggravate respiratory conditions, in particular asthma and bronchitis. So let's all cut our engines whenever we can to keep everyone healthy. For more information check out the Idling Health Hazard link. Want to learn more or submit an idea? Contact Eva Ostafin at eostafin@gmail.com.

Healthy Byte: Sleep - Part IV
Good sleep hygiene:  Develop an appropriate sleep schedule for each child's sleep and lifestyle needs. Keep the schedule consistent, even on weekends. Cut down the 3 NOISES: 1) Environmental, by avoiding light and general noise. 2) Body, with a comfortable bed, pillows and a dark, cool room at 67-70 degrees. Need a nightlight? Use a red bulb. 3) Mind, with 3-4 calming bedtime routines. Give them 2-3 minutes to write, so that the paper will now remember all their worries (they don't have to show you the content unless they want to). Click here for info on progressive muscle relaxation, which is a quick and effective stress releaser. For research papers on the above information, questions or ideas, email Juena Bobby at jbobbymd@gmail.com.
