DESCRIPTION:Author and Harrison Native David Hicks\, PhD will read and discuss his children’s book\, The Magic Ticket an autobiographical story about the death of his baby sister when he was a boy and his subsequent immersion into the world of books. David\, a professor and director of the Wilkes University MFA\, will recount his visits to children’s grief camps and how “narrative therapy\, ” fictionalizing a autobiographical story of loss or trauma\, can bring about healing and understanding in a way that journaling\, diary writing\, or other forms of nonfiction cannot. Helpful for adults seeking a way to find meaning in their past losses\, and for children who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Appropriate for adults and children age 7 and up accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required.
