The Mamaroneck-Larchmont PTA Council believes in the importance of promoting awareness of local, state and national education-related issues. Within this section of our website, we have posted and will continue to post advocacy materials received from the New York State and Westchester East Putnam Regional PTAs and include links to District, Board of Education and “education watchdog” websites. We encourage the community to ask questions, express opinions, discuss these topics and advocate where possible. We hope that you take the time to educate yourself and draw your own conclusions.
Education Reform is active in Albany, and each issue considered there directly affects our schools and our children. If you have any questions or would like to get more involved, please contact mamaroneckptcouncil@gmail.com
Take Action: The NYS PTA is advocating on behalf of NYS children and families about several key issues: additional support for mental health services, increases in school funding, clean water, and more. If you would like you can review the positions and send an email to our legislators.
Several PT Council members are participating in regional information meetings that the Board of Regents and State Education department are holding to gather feedback on state graduation requirements, especially with respect to alternative paths to graduation. These meetings are an important opportunity for stakeholders and members of the public to share input at this beginning stage of the review. We will update the website as information becomes available to report.
