Lunchtime Clubs Pilot - Fall 2011

Murray Avenue PTA will pilot three lunchtime clubs during the winter 2011-2012 school year when outdoor activities can be limited. The PTA has hired professional instructors for each of the clubs. The clubs will meet during lunch periods in pre-assigned classrooms. Students will eat lunch while participating in the club activities.

Lunchtime clubs will ONLY be available with the generous support of Murray families. Suggested donations are to cover the per student cost for each class. If we have insufficient enrollment or do not cover the cost of the club the Murray Ave PTA has the right to cancel the club. If the club is cancelled, all donations will be returned.

Lunchtime Chess presented by the National Scholastic Chess Foundation
Students will learn how to play the fun and exciting game of chess. Each week, students will be divided into small groups based on age and ability for structured lessons on chess strategy and supervised play. This course is designed to build upon each child's individual knowledge and experience.

Lunchtime Beginners Spanish presented by Linguakids,LLC:
Students will be introduced to Spanish with fun, interactive lessons each week. LinguaKids aims to teach a new language, a new culture and to have fun at the same time.

Lunchtime Classical Kids Music presented by professional musician Debra Whitman: 
Murray Avenue mom and professional musician, Debra Whitman, will present her exciting music appreciation program to the young musicians who will explore various instruments, musical notation, conducting and a “celebration” of great composers and their famous hits.

1) ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE:

  • Please complete the Lunchtime Clubs Application online OR print out and hand-write the Lunchtime Clubs Application Form.
  • For those completing the online application, you can easily submit your donation using our secure PayPal payment process or drop your email confirmation and donation to the Lunchtime Club box outside the main office or mail to Alex Soderlund, 7 France Place, Larchmont, NY 10538.
  • For those printing and submitting a hand-written application, please drop forms and donations to the Lunchtime Club box outside the main office or mail to Alex Soderlund, 7 France Place, Larchmont, NY 10538.
  • If you are donating by check, please make check payable to "Murray Avenue PTA."
  • Lunchtime Club Applications are due no later than Monday, November 14, 2011.

2) NOTIFICATION SYSTEM:

You will receive an enrollment confirmation via email with your child's class assignment by November 21, 2011. Please print it out and keep it for your reference.

3) RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES

IF YOUR CHILD ENROLLS IN A CLUB, PLEASE SAVE THIS SHEET FOR REFERENCE

  • Remind your child in the morning if they have a lunchtime club that day.
  • Students attending clubs will be picked up and escorted by club teacher to club pre-assigned room. Students will re-join their class lineup at the end of the lunch period.
  • Attendance is taken in clubs. If your child will not be attending lunchtime club for any reason, please contact Pam Nodiff to let her know.
  • Participating in Lunchtime Clubs is a privilege. All children are expected to behave appropriately in clubs. Any child who compromises the safety or enjoyment of the experience for others, or is disrespectful to the instructor or other club participants, may be removed from the club with no refund of the club donation.
  • There will be no refunds, partial or full, once a donation is made unless the Murray Avenue PTA cancels the club.
