The World Language Program at Chatsworth Avenue school continues again this year! Classes are available to all students from K – 5. The courses will again be taught by ABC Languages professional, native-speaking teachers. For more information on ABC Languages visit their website at www.abclang.com.
- This year we will offer Spanish, French and Mandarin.
- The six-week program will commence Tuesday, January 9th and take place after school from 3:05 to 4:05 PM. Classes end promptly at 4:05. You will be assessed late fees if you do not pick up your child(ren) on time.
- The once-a-week class (1X) on Tuesdays is $90.
- The twice-a-week class (2X) on Tuesdays and Thursdays is $150.
What’s different this year?
This year we are allowing parents to enroll students in the class frequency of their choice irrespective of language proficiency. Once all registrations are in, the Chatsworth Avenue PTA in coordination with ABC Languages will do their best to construct classes around age, frequency selections and proficiency levels. We cannot guarantee that there will be enough students to have differentiated learning for each language or that there will be enough students to hold the twice-a week classes for each language. Completion of the Level I/beginner course last year does not mean the student is ready for more advanced learning. Proficiency levels will be determined based on your answers to questions which can be found on the following registrations pages.
General comments.
We will try to accommodate all students and all preferences. A child may register for only one language. For our kindergarten students, a parent/caregiver must take the child from his/her regular classroom to the designated language classroom. Final course determinations will be made by mid-December and communicated to you by email. If we cannot accommodate your request we will offer you an alternative or you can request a refund. The school’s code of conduct applies and students may be removed from a class or the program for violating it.
