At the beginning of this school year, the Central School PTA launched its brand new Central School PTA Grants Program. The intent of the Grants Program is to support teachers and staff in their pursuit of new projects that enhance the education of students at Central. It was designed to be a transparent and inclusive way to give all faculties at Central an opportunity to use the PTA funds. We would like to thank everyone involved in the fundraising efforts that allowed us to make funds available to support and supplement Central School's building and classroom activities. 

The PTA Executive Committee appointed a subcommittee to study the proposals and make recommendations on approvals. The PTA Grant Committee is made up of some Executive members and non-Exec PTA members as well as parents representing different interests and age ranges in the school. There is also a designated faculty representative

Grant applications were received in mid-November and the PTA Grants Committee received twenty-six.  The Committee met several times to review the applications and to make careful decisions given budget and certain guidelines.  We are proud to report that thirteen grants were fully funded and seven grants were partially funded in a grand total of $9,320!

Some of the exciting programs coming to fruition this year include:

·         A new Central News Network Meteorologists Program run by Mr. Smith that will allow all grades to participate in scientific weather forecasting and reporting.

·         New Listening Centers and Audio Materials for several classrooms.

·         Classroom Library books geared towards engaging boys as readers.

·         Giant Garden Games.

·         Kid Friendly Microphones for K Classrooms.

·         Enhancements to the Child Study Room.

·         Reading Buddy Alphabet Books for two classes.

The Central PTA is thrilled to support the administration and staff at Central School in providing children with the best possible educational experience.
